HubSpot Agent Credit Costs After July 23: What Every Agent Burns and How to Cap It

What HubSpot agents cost in credits after the July 23, 2026 change

As of July 23, 2026, every agent in HubSpot's new Agent Hub consumes HubSpot Credits, including custom agents built in Agent Builder. One credit is worth $0.01, your allowance is tied to your subscription tier, and HubSpot itself recommends reviewing estimated usage and setting execution limits before you scale agents up. If you turned on agents during the launch window and haven't looked at your credit settings since, this is the week to do it.

What changed with HubSpot credits on July 23, 2026?

When HubSpot replaced Breeze Studio with Agent Hub and Agent Builder in public beta, the pricing followed the product. The prebuilt agents (customer, prospecting, data, content) were already credit-billed, but as of July 23 custom agents burn credits too, per HuboExperts' July roundup and MarTech's coverage of the release. That matters because the same July wave opened the prospecting agent to every paid portal, so a lot of teams are switching on credit-consuming agents for the first time at once.

The practical change: agent experiments are no longer free experiments. A custom agent that runs on a schedule or a trigger is a recurring line item, and HubSpot's own guidance is to set execution limits on it from day one.

How much does each HubSpot agent cost in credits?

These are the current published consumption rates, verified against HubSpot's pricing catalog in July 2026. Remember: 100 credits = $1.

FeatureCreditsBilling logic
Customer agent50 per resolved conversationOutcome-based since April 14, 2026. Unresolved conversations are free.
Prospecting agent100 per recommended leadOne-time charge covering about 30 days of research and outreach for that lead. Signal monitoring is free.
Data agent10 per prompt responsePer response.
Content agent (beta)1,000 per piece$10 per piece of content. Budget accordingly.
Workflow AI actions10 per action executionAdds up fast in high-volume workflows.
Buyer intent10 per company monitored per monthCustom signals cost 50. Continued tracking of already-added companies is free.
Smart Properties (Smart Fill)10 per record populatedThe classic bill surprise: 10,000 records is roughly $1,000.

Two things are still free and worth knowing: standard contact and company enrichment (free since autumn 2025), and customer agent testing before you go live. Both prebuilt agents also carry 28-day free trials.

How many credits does your HubSpot plan include?

Allowances are keyed to the highest subscription tier you own, pooled account-wide, and reset monthly with no rollover. Starter tiers get 500 credits per month. Professional gets 3,000 (5,000 if bundled with Data Hub Pro or Customer Platform Pro). Enterprise gets 5,000 (10,000 with the equivalent Enterprise bundles). Free portals get zero, which is why agents effectively start at HubSpot's paid tiers.

When you run out, extra capacity is $10 per 1,000 credits per month, or pay-as-you-go at one cent per credit billed in 10-credit increments. Watch the default: unless you explicitly enable pay-as-you-go overages, HubSpot auto-upgrades you to the next capacity pack.

What does a typical month actually cost?

A modeled example, not a quote. Take a Professional portal with its 3,000 included credits. A customer agent resolving 40 support conversations burns 2,000 credits. A prospecting agent recommending 10 new leads adds 1,000. That is the entire monthly allowance with zero spent on workflows, buyer intent, or content. Every additional 1,000 credits of activity is $10, so a busy portal running three or four agents plus AI workflow actions lands in the $30 to $100 per month range on top of subscription, and a portal leaning on the content agent or Smart Fill can go well past that.

The point is not that agents are expensive. Fifty cents per resolved support conversation is cheap against any human benchmark. The point is that from July 23 the meter runs on everything, so untended automation is now untended spend.

How do you cap agent credit spend?

HubSpot gives you four levers, all under Settings, then Account and Billing, then Usage and Limits. Set usage alerts (they fire at 75, 85, 90, and 100 percent of allowance). Set per-feature monthly credit limits, available on all tiers since June 2026. Pause specific agents' credit usage entirely if one is misbehaving. And for custom agents in Agent Builder, set execution limits when you create the agent, not after the first invoice. If you only do one thing today, put a per-feature cap on Smart Fill and the content agent, the two features most likely to surprise you.

Frequently asked questions

Do HubSpot agents use credits now?

Yes. Since July 23, 2026, agents in Agent Hub consume HubSpot Credits, and that includes custom agents built with Agent Builder. Prebuilt agents like the customer and prospecting agents were already credit-billed before that date.

How much is one HubSpot credit worth?

One credit equals $0.01. Starter plans include 500 credits per month, Professional includes 3,000, and Enterprise includes 5,000, with larger allowances on bundled plans. Extra credits cost $10 per 1,000 per month.

Do unresolved customer agent conversations cost credits?

No. Since April 14, 2026, the customer agent is billed per resolved conversation at 50 credits. If the conversation is handed to a human or goes unresolved, you are not charged.

How do I stop a HubSpot agent from burning credits?

Go to Settings, Account and Billing, Usage and Limits. You can set per-feature monthly credit limits, enable usage alerts, or pause a specific agent's credit usage. Custom agents also support execution limits set in Agent Builder.

Is there a free trial for Breeze agents?

Yes. The customer agent and prospecting agent both carry 28-day free trials, and customer agent testing before launch does not consume credits.
