What the HubSpot Prospecting Agent Actually Costs to Run

What the HubSpot Prospecting Agent costs in October 2026: credit pricing, the 100-credits-per-lead math, new overage rules, and how to keep spend predictable.

What the HubSpot Prospecting Agent Actually Costs to Run

The HubSpot Prospecting Agent runs on HubSpot Credits at a rate of about 100 credits per lead it works, and credits sell for $10 per 1,000. That puts the working number at roughly $1 per prospect, on top of the paid Sales seat you already need. That is the easy part. The harder questions are how many credits you will actually burn in a month, what happens when you run out, and how HubSpot's September 2026 billing change affects what you pay. Here is the full math, as of October 2026.

How do HubSpot Credits work?

Every Breeze agent draws from one shared currency, HubSpot Credits. HubSpot's credits page prices them at $10 per 1,000 credits, which is one cent per credit. Each subscription includes a monthly credit allowance (the amount varies by product and tier), and you can buy capacity packs on top of it.

Two rules matter more than the sticker price. First, credits reset every month and unused credits do not roll over, so an oversized pack is money left on the table. Second, only paid seats (Core, Sales, Service) and Partner Seats can spend credits. Free and view-only users cannot, which means the Prospecting Agent is always riding on at least one paid Sales seat.

How many credits does the Prospecting Agent use?

HubSpot's own estimator rates the Prospecting Agent at 100 credits per lead. That covers the agent researching the prospect, deciding whether they fit, and drafting the outreach for the play they are enrolled in. For context, here is how the other agents are rated, per HubSpot as of October 2026:

AgentCredit rateCost at $0.01 per credit
Prospecting Agent100 credits per lead$1.00 per lead
Customer Agent (messaging)50 credits per resolution$0.50 per resolution
Customer Agent (voice)50 credits per minute$0.50 per minute
Data Agent10 credits per response$0.10 per response
Nurture Agent10 credits per email$0.10 per email
Content Agent1,000 credits per piece$10.00 per piece

What does that cost at real volumes?

The monthly math is simple multiplication, before your included credits are applied:

Leads worked per monthCreditsCost at pack pricing
10010,000$100
25025,000$250
50050,000$500

Even at 500 leads a month, the credit bill is a fraction of one SDR's week. In the implementations we have run, credits are almost never the real cost driver. The real costs are a bad enrollment setup that burns credits on accounts you would never sell to, and outreach defaults that get your domain flagged. Both are setup problems, not pricing problems.

What changed in September 2026?

HubSpot's credits billing documentation was updated on September 16, 2026, and the default overage behavior changed with it. Credit packs bought on or after that date default to pay-as-you-go: when you pass your monthly limit, you are billed $0.010 per extra credit, monthly in arrears, in 10-credit increments. Packs bought before that date default to auto-upgrade, which moves you to a larger capacity pack for the rest of your commitment term. If you set the agent up months ago, check which behavior your account is on before you scale enrollment, because auto-upgrade is a term commitment, not a one-month charge.

HubSpot also sets an account-level spend limit by default at 50 percent above your total monthly credits, with alerts to billing contacts at 75, 85, and 90 percent of usage. You can add feature-level limits under that ceiling, and we recommend one on the Prospecting Agent specifically while you are in your first 90 days.

How do you keep the bill predictable?

The setup choices matter more than the pack size. The defaults we recommend on every Breeze agent setup: Adaptive outreach rather than fixed sequences, a 5-email cadence, send without review once guardrails are in place, and the three core plays (inbound follow-up, re-engagement, targeted outbound) launched together. Then keep enrollment criteria tight, so those 100-credit leads are accounts you actually want, and set your spend limits on day one. We covered how the seat and credit model itself is priced in our breakdown of HubSpot's seats and credits pricing.

One more thing worth knowing: setup is free when you buy HubSpot or HubSpot Credits through us as your Solutions Partner, and the weeks right after purchase are your testing period. We also help negotiate the HubSpot pricing itself. If you want to see a Prospecting Agent built from scratch first, we are doing exactly that in a free live workshop on Wednesday, November 18 at 12 PM CT.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the HubSpot Prospecting Agent cost per lead?

About 100 credits per lead per HubSpot's estimator, which is roughly $1 at the $10 per 1,000 pack price, before your subscription's included credits. You also need at least one paid Sales seat.

Do HubSpot Credits roll over to the next month?

No. Credits reset monthly on your usage period start date, and unused credits expire. Size your pack to real usage rather than a safety margin.

What happens when I run out of credits?

It depends on your overage setting. Packs bought on or after September 16, 2026 default to pay-as-you-go at $0.010 per credit. Older packs default to auto-upgrade to a bigger pack for the rest of your term. With no pack and no overage, usage-based features pause until the next monthly reset.

How many credits are included with my subscription?

It varies by product and tier, and credits do not combine across subscriptions. Check the Included Credits section of HubSpot's Products and Services catalog for your tier's number.

Do I need a paid HubSpot seat to use the Prospecting Agent?

Yes. Only paid seats (Core, Sales, Service) and Partner Seats can use credits, so the agent cannot run from a free user.
