Where AI SDRs actually fail
The agent is rarely the weak link. Seven failure modes kill these programs, and the first two do most of the damage.
Nobody in the seatThe big one
Agents send from a real rep's address, and when a prospect replies, your rep has to act. Most sales-led teams rightly will not let an agent answer questions or book meetings unsupervised. The engine needs at least one of your reps in the seat, or replies (your hottest signal) die in the inbox.
Email health ignoredOur specialty
Authentication, compliance, warm-up, volume pacing and spam-filter behavior. One burned sending domain takes the whole engine down with it, so deliverability is engineered into every build.
Empty context
An agent that does not deeply know your ICP, offer, proof and objections writes generic outreach. That is why the AI context layer is step one of every build.
No routing
Agents starve without workflows feeding them the right contacts at the right moment. Enrollment criteria and routing are half the build.
Bad data
Dead emails and stale titles burn credits and your sending domain. Data sources and an enrichment agent are part of the engine, not an afterthought.
One-agent thinking
Research, enrichment, personalization and follow-up are different jobs. One agent doing all four does none of them well, so every agent in the engine has one job.
No feedback loop
Markets, ICPs and messaging change. Agents only keep converting when your reps review what is working and teach them, so the review loop is built in at launch.
Lists and signals that feed the agents
Agents are only as good as the contacts they work. Two sources come up in almost every build, and both have partner deals in our marketplace.
Verified outbound lists
Cold lists and no budget for a data subscription? We connect a partner data tool such as UpLead or Apollo at partner pricing, stand up an enrichment agent that keeps contacts fresh, and load verified lists into personalized sequences.
Website visitor signals
Anonymous traffic you cannot act on becomes warm outreach: visitor de-anonymization (for example with Warmly), intent triggers, and outreach to accounts already showing interest.
The fuel: Breeze agents and credits
HubSpot's Prospecting Agent watches buying signals, builds lists, drafts personalized outreach and books meetings. Since HubSpot's July 2026 release any paid HubSpot portal, Starter included, can turn it on, and it costs $1 per lead it recommends for outreach, paid in HubSpot Credits.
Every build sets a credit budget per agent, and we negotiate credit packages with HubSpot where we can (final pricing is always HubSpot's call). A custom Claude build is billed by model and data usage instead. Details in our Prospecting Agent cost guide.
