Your CRM Is Moving Into ChatGPT and Claude: What B2B Teams Should Do
The B2B software interface is quietly becoming optional. On September 10, Box made its content platform generally available inside ChatGPT. Salesforce in Claude, the plugin announced with the Claudeforce partnership, is expected to open beta this month with 37 prebuilt sales skills. Klaviyo went headless the week before. And Dreamforce, which opens today in San Francisco, is built around the same idea: the app is becoming a system that powers every interface, and the assistant is becoming the front door. If you run a B2B go-to-market team, this is the shift to plan around this quarter.
What actually changed this month?
Three vendor moves, all within about two weeks, point the same direction.
Box is now inside ChatGPT. As of September 10, Box customers can browse folders, preview files, @mention documents, and run supported MCP actions against Box content without leaving ChatGPT. Box says existing permissions, security, and governance carry through, and OpenAI is extending access across paid ChatGPT tiers. Box announcement.
Salesforce is launching inside Claude. Salesforce in Claude ships with 37 prebuilt sales skills, including meeting prep, deal health review, and pipeline review, and routes every action through Salesforce so business rules stay enforced. It is in pilot now and Salesforce expects open beta in September 2026. An admin connects it once and every seller on the team gets access, with permissions managed centrally. Salesforce press release.
Klaviyo went headless. We covered Klaviyo’s headless MCP move last week: same play, marketing platform edition. Add Salesforce expanding Headless 360 in August so any agent can act across its platform, and the pattern is complete.
Slack is part of the same story. Claude is now the default model behind Slackbot, and Salesforce claims 8.1 million hours of annualized productivity gains internally from Slackbot alone. That is a vendor-reported number, so treat it as directional, but the architectural commitment is real.
Why are CRM and content vendors going headless?
Because their users already left. Sellers prep for meetings in ChatGPT and Claude. Buyers research in AI assistants, which is why advertising inside ChatGPT became a real B2B channel this year. The vendors can either watch usage drain toward the assistant layer or ship their data, permissions, and actions into it and stay essential. Headless is the second option. For decades software meant navigating a UI. Now the UI is negotiable and the system of record underneath is the product.
What does this mean for B2B go-to-market teams?
Three practical consequences, in priority order.
1. Permissions become the control surface. Box carries your existing folder permissions straight into ChatGPT. An assistant reads everything it is allowed to reach and synthesizes across it, so a legal or pricing folder with lazy inherited access becomes retrievable context. Audit the permission tree before you switch on any connector, not after.
2. CRM hygiene is now output quality. When a rep asks an assistant for a deal health review, the answer is only as good as the pipeline data behind it. Dirty stages, stale close dates, and duplicate contacts used to embarrass a dashboard. Now they misinform an agent that acts. If your CRM needs cleanup before it can feed an assistant, start there.
3. Skills beat dashboards. The 37 skills in Salesforce in Claude are workflows, not screens. The teams that win this transition will encode their process into agent skills and connectors while competitors keep rebuilding reports.

What should you do this quarter?
Pick one workflow, not a platform migration. Meeting prep and pipeline review are the proven starting points, which is exactly why Salesforce shipped them as prebuilt skills. Run the permission audit, connect one system, and measure whether reps actually stay in the assistant. This week is also the right moment to watch the vendors: Dreamforce runs today through Thursday, and HubSpot’s UNBOUND, formerly INBOUND, opens tomorrow in Boston. Expect more of the stack to go assistant-first by Friday. If you are a HubSpot shop, the equivalent motion is agents with governed access to your portal, which is where yesterday’s Salesforce agent portfolio news meets your world.

Frequently asked questions
What is Salesforce in Claude?
A plugin from the Salesforce and Anthropic Claudeforce partnership that gives sellers 37 prebuilt sales skills, such as meeting prep and pipeline review, inside Claude, with every action routed through Salesforce so permissions and business rules are enforced. It is in pilot now, with open beta expected in September 2026.
Is the Box ChatGPT integration available now?
Yes. Box says the integration is generally available to all Box customers as of September 10, 2026, with OpenAI extending access across paid ChatGPT tiers over the following days. Existing Box permissions and governance carry through.
What is a headless CRM?
A CRM whose data, workflows, and actions are exposed through APIs and MCP servers so any interface, including AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude, can read from it and act on it without using the vendor’s own UI.
Does this replace my CRM?
No. The system of record becomes more important, not less, because the assistant’s answers depend entirely on its data and rules. What changes is where your team works day to day.
What should RevOps do first?
Audit folder and object permissions before enabling any assistant connector, then clean the pipeline data that agent skills will read. Only then connect one workflow and measure adoption.
